Nov. 15, 2007 – Oregon State Treasurer Randall Edwards is among 30 leading institutional investors of retirement funds who are asking Congress to pass a national energy bill that includes strong measures for expanding clean energy, reducing oil dependence and curbing global warming pollution.

Oct. 29 - Steve Hickok, deputy administrator of the Bonneville Power Administration, has been elected by the Member Representatives Committee of the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) to serve as the members' chairman for 2008.

Oct. 17 - Customers of Rocky Mountain Power in eastern Idaho will have an opportunity to testify at public hearings before the Idaho Public Utilities Commission regarding the utility’s request for an average 10.3 percent increase in rates.
 

IDAHO PUBLIC UTILITIES COMMISSION APPROVES WIND INTERCONNECTION AGREEMENTS

Oct. 17 - State regulators have approved agreements between Idaho Power Co. and two wind projects in Elmore County. The agreements are interconnection agreements that divide the costs for transmission upgrades between the project developers and Idaho Power and its customers.
 

FRAMEWORK PROPOSED FOR EXTENDING LONG-TERM ALCOA ENERGY SUPPLY

Oct. 17 - Chelan County Public Utility District staff briefed the Board of Commissioners this week on a possible framework for long-term energy supply to the Alcoa Wenatchee Works that could keep three pot lines operating until at least 2028. Alcoa officials have endorsed the proposed plan.

BPA MAKES U.S. TREASURY PAYMENT IN FULL AND ON TIME

Oct. 12 - The Bonneville Power Administration has paid the U.S. Treasury $1.045 billion for fiscal year 2007, which ended Sept. 30. This is the full, scheduled annual payment, with interest, plus a prepayment on the U.S. taxpayer investment in the Federal Columbia River Power System (FCRPS), which includes the federal hydropower dams and transmission system.
 

INCREASE IN ETHANOL PRODUCTION COULD IMPACT WATER

Oct. 11- Should the projected increases in the use of corn for ethanol production occur, the harm to water quality could be considerable, and water supply problems at the regional and local levels could also arise, says a new report from the National Research Council.
